HASS Research Writing Intensive Workshop 1: How to Write Critical Literature Review

Description:

***The following workshops will be held in a hybrid format. If you register to attend it online, a zoom link will be sent to you the day before the workshop.

Pursuing a research degree demands a wide array of complex skills. Among them, writing skills stand out as one of the most challenging yet often underdeveloped. We understand the struggles, and these workshops are designed to support our graduate researchers in crafting and completing their thesis to academic standards.

From generating research questions to articulating conclusions, each workshop offers practical skills and guidance for structuring and developing a specific research component (as outlined in the table below). Collectively the eight workshops aim to ensure participants' progression in building a well-rounded skill set to navigate the writing process.

How to Write a Critical Literature Review

Evaluating and marshalling existing literature is essential to any research project, irrespective of the discipline or genre. A well-crafted literature review is the cornerstone of any successful research project, reflecting the researcher’s engagement and interaction with their scholarly community. This workshop aims to equip our graduate researchers with the necessary skills to evaluate and synthesize studies effectively, communicate critical stances toward existing research, and organize writing coherently.
