AI-Assisted Self-Editing for Graduate Researchers: Session 4 Proofreading manuscripts using AI tools
| Description: | Editing one’s own research manuscript is challenging, yet essential for publication. Effective self-editing requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of academic standards, and the ability to critically evaluate one's own writing from a fresh perspective. This course develops your self-editing skills that dive deep into the paragraphs, sentences, and words of your works. Not only will these skills build your sense and confidence in adjusting content and structure, but they will also hone your writing style and clarity. We will also experiment with potential ways to employ AI tools such as ChatGPT to facilitate, elevate, and accelerate your editing process, while ensuring your unique voice remains prominent and strengthened. The course is structured into four sessions outlined and scheduled in the table below. Each session builds on the content of the previous one, featuring presentations of editing skills, demonstrations of editing sample texts, and participant applications of editing preselected research excerpts. students are encouraged to attend all four workshops to receive a certificate of completion (note: each workshop requires separate registration). However, students are also welcome to register for and attend individual workshops based on their interests or availability. The course is ideal for 2nd- and 3rd-year candidates who seek skills and perspectives to craft and polish their drafts and is also beneficial for newcomers who are just starting to draft their research.
