Introduction to REDCap (in-person)

Description:

This 'hands on' introduction to REDCap workshop will allow you to follow along and build a REDCap project. The workshop will suit beginners and those who have started a REDCap project and would like to know more.

Requirements:

  • bring your laptop and ensure it is fully charged;
  • make sure you can log in to MQ REDCap (https://redcap.mq.edu.au) before attending.

Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) is a secure web-based application maintained by Macquarie University. It is ideal for collecting participant data and administering online surveys. Powerful features include longitudinal data collection, comprehensive survey workflows, and data exports for a range of statistical programs.

Presenter: David Poynter, REDCap Systems Manager, Macquarie Medical School 

The workshop will give you hands on experience with the following REDCap features:

  1. Start with a High Level Design
  2. Create a Project
  3. Project Setup and the Online Designer Overview
  4. Creating and Editing Instruments and Fields
  5. Adding and Searching for Records
  6. User Rights and Data Access Groups
  7. Events, Arms and Repeating Instruments
  8. Piping, Branching and Field Embedding
  9. Creating Surveys and Survey Settings
  10. Survey Notifications, the Survey Queue and Automated Survey Invitations
  11. The Data Dictionary and Building Instruments With AI
  12. Test, test, test and move to production

The workshop will run for two hours and there will be a short break in the middle.
