Time Series Analysis workshop

Description:

Statistical Consulting Hub is hosting a Time Series workshop for graduate researchers on Tuesday, 14 April, from 10:30am to 2:00pm, at 01CC 217 Groupwork Learning Space. The workshop will be conducted by Dr Nan Zou, a specialist in time series analysis from our School.

In data scientists’ ideals, everything is independent and identically distributed. However, when data evolves over time, the future and the past are usually dependent. To tackle this dependence, this workshop introduces Time Series Analysis; its first part models linear dependence with the cornerstone-like ARMA; its second part captures nonlinear dependence with the state-of-the-art machine learning method Neural Network.

This workshop is part of the Statistical Consulting Hub, which provides specialised training and applied statistical expertise across disciplines.

Agenda (3 hours):

  • Introduction + Autoregressive (AR) models
  • Hands-on guided practice
  • Coffee break & questions
  • Neural Network Autoregressive (NNAR) models
  • More applied examples and discussion

Strengthen your understanding of time-dependent data and learn how to model both linear and nonlinear patterns in practice.

The workshop will be run in hybrid format (in person AND online). If you are joining online, here's the Zoom link:
