Visual Communication: Powerpoint Basics

Want to create to improve your PowerPoint presentations?

Learn how to create clear and coherent PowerPoint presentations, so that the your research is memorable and makes an impact on the audience. Simple tips to keep your PPTs visually consistent and uncluttered. Over two weeks we look at principles of design; using templates, colour and font; using images successfully; creating a visual story; communicating a strong and consistent message; and 'what-not-to-do'. *Demonstration in on Mac. 

Learning outcomes
In this course students will become familiar with the b
asic principles of design, the purpose of a visual presentation in communicating research easily and succesfully to a variety of audiences.  Students will be introduced to using templates and graphic motifs,  how to create a narrative using visuals and text, and the importance of creating a visual toolkit/portfolio to communicate their research.
 
The workshop is over 2 consecutive weeks. Thursday 7 May and 14 May,10am-12pm. 
A Certificate of Completion is issued to students who attend both sessions.
