Humanities: Writing for Publication (3-week course)
| Description: | Ready to turn your research into a publishable journal article? This focused three-week course is designed for MRes and PhD students in the Faculty of Arts who want practical, step-by-step guidance on writing for publication. You will get a clear, behind-the-scenes understanding of how academic publishing really works, how to choose the right journal for your topic, and how publishing writing differs from thesis writing. Across the three weeks, you will learn how to transform thesis material into a strong journal article, shape it to expected paper formats, and draft the key pieces that make submissions stand out, including aim statements, gap statements, and an abstract. You will also learn what editors and reviewers are looking for, and how to respond to reviewer feedback with confidence and professionalism. By the end of the course, you will have a clearer publication plan, stronger draft components, and a practical toolkit you can use to move from thesis chapters to publishable outputs. Focussing on students from the Faculty of Arts. MQBS, Linguistics, Cognitive Sciences and Psychology students are also welcome, if their research has a humanities approach. *Not suitable for Graduate Diploma students. WHEN: Tuesdays 10am-12pm, May 12, 19, 26.
