Humanities: Writing for Publication (3-week course)
| Description: | This three-week course introduces MRes and PhD students in the Faculty of Arts to writing for publication. MQBS, Linguistics, Cognitive Sciences and Psychology students are also welcome, if their research has a humanities approach. WHEN: Tuesdays 10am-12pm, May 12, 19, 26.

This course covers: the role of academic publishing, how to select a journal that fits your research topic, the differences between thesis writing and writing for publication, how to redevelop content from your thesis for journal publication, what is the expected format of a paper for publication, writing aim statements and gap statements, creating a draft abstract, what journal editors and reviewers look for in a paper, how to respond to reviewer feedback.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing this course students will understand how to: select a journal that fits their research, understand how to redevelop parts of their thesis for publication; how to write an abstract; how to write aim statements and gap statements; how to respond to editor feedback.
