Stata: Descriptive Statistics and Univariate Statistics

Description:

This three-hour course is designed to cover a variety of analyses that can be performed in Stata. It begins by covering the role of inferential statistics in quantitative research and moves on to performing univariate analyses via Stata.

Topics covered:

·       background to inferential statistics and its relevance

·       a review of types of variables

·       appropriate ways of displaying and describing data (simple numeric and graphical summaries)

·       a discussion of assumptions and what to do if assumptions are violated

·       basic univariate statistics

Pre-requisites:

Familiarity with the fundamental aspects of quantitative research methods and with STATA, including:

·       how to manually enter and import data

·       how to recode and compute variables

 If you are new to Stata, please enrol in Stata: Understanding SPSS and Preparing Your Data
