2023: Storytelling Your Thesis: Preparing for 3MT and VYT [on campus]
| Description: | Communicating your research to a non-specialist audience is a valuable skill that can help broaden the reach and impact of your research. It can also be a difficult challenge, distilling the essence of your research into a cohesive story using language that a non-specialist audience can understand. Add in a time restriction and now you have the premise for many research communication competitions. This year, the GRA will once again be running the 3-Minute Thesis competition* and, for the first time, with FMHHS will be running Visualise Your Thesis**: an international programme that challenges graduate researchers to present their research in a 60-second audio-visual explainer. To help you prepare your entry for these competitions, this workshop will discuss key components and considerations when communicating your research to non-specialist audiences. We will also cover important details for each competition including entry requirements, judging criteria, and key dates. *open to PhD and MPhil candidates **open to PhD, MPhil, and MRES candidates
Workshop Schedule:
Candidates are welcome to only attend the sections of the workshop relevant to their interests.
Registration closes: Sunday 25 June at 4pm Please only register if you can attend in person. This workshop will be recorded and the relevant recordings will be made available on the 3-Minute Thesis competition and Visualise Your Thesis webpages after the event.
