2021: Design Thinking for Graduate Researchers
| Description: | This course will be run online over 2 afternoons (Monday 1 Nov and Thursday 4 Nov); participants need to be able to attend BOTH days. This brand new course, designed by the MQ Incubator, will enable you to approach your graduate research journey in a more powerful way, developing the 7 mindsets and 4 core abilities of creative thinking. You will gain practical experience using a Design Thinking approach of emotional intelligence, problem-solving, prototyping, iteration, reflection, and reflexivity, applying this to your own research project and support network. Tools, concepts and strategies used in the two 4-hour workshops will be transferable beyond graduation, complementing the analytical thinking typically emphasized throughout the graduate research journey and offering well-developed soft skills in line with the World Economic Forum's 'Top Skills for 2025'.
Course Outcomes:
Who is this course for?
This course is for Graduate Research candidates who are looking to gain knowledge and skills in using Design Thinking as an approach to rethinking their research project as a creative journey, getting unstuck, or learning how to cultivate conditions that support modern problem solving for the workplace. The practical nature of the course orients it toward those that want to challenge themselves further in their degree and practise new ways of looking at problems.
What are the requirements?
No experience in Design Thinking is necessary! To make the most of this immersive experience, we ask that you come with a 'can do' attitude and a strong desire to stretch yourself as a world-class researcher. The course will be delivered online through ZOOM, so a stable connection is a must. A digital workbook will be supplied closer to launch via email.
