2021: HDR Training Workshops: Working with Theories in Research

The workshops aim to foster better understanding in research communications and sharper writing performance for HDR students in social sciences or humanities. Each workshop is comprised of a short lecture, tasks and student interaction. MRes and PhD students are encouraged to attend all workshops or individual workshops in which they are interested. The topics and objectives of each workshop are provided below:

This workshop “Working with Theories in Research” sets the following objectives:

• Use of theories in qualitative and quantitative studies,
• Theories’ guidance on formulating research questions or hypotheses.
• Identifying and responding to theories’ underlying assumptions.
