2021: The Contemporary Conference Presentation Course for STEM

Description:

This course focuses on how to confidently and effectively deliver a conference presentation: live and in-person, live and online, and recorded. We will be examining the organization, structure and language of presentations, the use of visual materials, and how to prepare for delivering presentations online. We will also cover poster presentation preparation and considerations, how to chair a meeting, and how to ask and answer questions effectively. Course material will be distributed during the course.

This course is composed of 5 sessions each Wednesday (10am-1pm). Delivery will be a mixture of face-2-face (weeks 1, 2, & 5) and online (weeks 3 & 4). Please ensure you can attend all sessions before registering.

This course is suited to postgraduate researchers aiming to present their work at conferences, meetings, and workshops. The focus will be on Scientific Presentation.

Initial subscriptions will be open to HDR candidates only. If undersubscribed the course will then be opened to postgraduate researchers including postdoctoral fellows. If oversubscribed, a second course will be run later in the year.

Students will be notified of pre-course preparation required approximately one week prior to commencement.
