2021: MQBS HDR writing workshops: What do academic audiences expect from Introduction?

Description:

Specifically focusing on the field of busines and economics, the workshops aim to foster effective knowledge in the constituting elements of the thesis or research article and cultivate writing skills for communicating research ideas at high standards. Each workshop is comprised of deconstruction of writing skills, analysis of illustrative texts extracted from top tier journals, and discussion. Newly commenced MRes (direct entry into Year 2) and PhD students are highly encouraged to enrol in all the workshops for development of a comprehensive know-how in scholarly writing. Or alternatively, you can choose to enrol in workshops interesting to you.

This workshop covers the following topics:

  • The structure and essential elements of an Introduction
  • Write each element effectively 
  • Craft an Introduction that motivates audiences
