2021: HDR Writing Workshops: Writing A Critical Literature Review

Description:

The workshops aim to foster better understanding in research communications and sharper writing performance for HDR students in social sciences or humanities. Each workshop is comprised of a short lecture, tasks and student interaction. MRes and PhD students are encouraged to attend all workshops or individual workshops in which they are interested. The topics and objectives of each workshop are provided below:

  • Writing A Critical Literature Review
  • Developing A Research Question
  • What Academic Audiences Expect from Introduction?
  • Making Rigorous Description and Justification of Research Methods
  • Techniques in Discussing Results and Drawing Conclusion
  • Every Research Article Is Written from the Basics: Paragraphs, Sentences, and Words
  • Delivering An Oral Presentation of Research
  • Applying Critical Thinking in Research 
  • Working with Theories in Research

This workshop “Writing A Critical Literature Review” sets the following objectives:

  • Understanding the characteristics of a critical literature review,
  • Evaluating and synthesizing studies to show patterns,
  • Identifying inconsistencies or gaps,
  • Positioning the study to the literature.
