2020: Workshop: Developing your 5-Year Research Plan
Description: |
You are invited to join Dr Johannes (John) Dumay who is running 6 workshops on Developing your 5-Year Research Plan. These begin on Thursday 28th May at 3.00pm and will run every two weeks. Week 2: Becoming a critical scholar - this chapter builds in the previous chapter by getting scholars to understand how their beliefs, education, environment and experiences shape them as academics and researchers. It dispels the myth that research in the social sciences can be unbiased and that we all bring our biases to research. It then outlines how we can leverage these biases to develop research that has an impact on academia, practice, policy and society. It also explores the different problems we face in research and distinguishes between solving tame or wicked problems. Dr John Dummay Biography: In addition to my PhD, I have the following qualifications:
Since starting my thesis in 2006, I have achieved an outstanding record as the author or co-author of over 60 peer-reviewed academic journal articles, publishing in prestigious journals such as Accounting Auditing and Accountability Journal, The British Accounting Review, Journal of Intellectual Capital, Public Management Review, Financial Accountability and Management and The Journal of Business Ethics. I have co-authored with many authors from different countries such as Australia, Italy, USA, Canada, Russia and China. My current research activities include projects in Australia, China, Scandinavia and Europe. I have many awards for my publications.
