2020: Humanities Research Writing Course - Online

Description:

6 week online writing course for HDR candidates

This course introduces research and writing skills required in the humanities. It covers some key components of thesis writing such as: developing and/or refining a research question or abstract, taking a critical approach towards one's own writing and reviewing literature, developing complex and persuasive arguments, developing confidence and learning the principles of editing and peer review, and offers practical advice about how to establish and sustain a strong writing practice.

The course is run as a series of integrated, interactive workshops. Students are required to share samples of their writing and do some reading as homework. Upon completing the course, participants can join a regular thesis writing group.

Class times: Thursdays 2-3:30pm (via Zoom) - 23 & 30 April, 7, 14, 21 & 28 May.

* Unless pre-arranged with the convenor, participants are expected to commit to all 6 weeks of the course.
