Description: | *For HDR/MRes Candidates. MQ Staff/Researchers please email HDR Learning Skills to check availability*
You must be able to attend both Part 1 and Part 2 of this workshop. Zoom access instructions will be provided closer to workshop date.
This is an introductory course to develop basic skills in using NVivo to store, code and run enquiries of qualitative data. The course aims to give you practical NVivo skills that can be applied directly to your research project. This course is suitable for those that are familiar with concepts of qualitative data analysis (e.g. coding, memo etc.), and have already conducted interviews/focus group.
Throughout the day, you will: · get to know the NVivo workspace · learn how to create a project · import data sources · create codes, memos, annotations · conduct basic queries of codes and texts
What to bring: · if you are using your own laptop, bring your laptop with NVivo 12 already downloaded (To download NVivo 12, go to the MQ IT services page and click on the Nvivo link) · interview data or texts that you wish to analyse. Two or three interview texts/interview transcripts/journal articles (saved on a USB stick) are sufficient.
Sampled texts will be given but if you have your own texts, you will gain more benefits from the course. A workbook will be given.
