2020: MQBS HDR academic writing workshops: Making rigorous description and justification of methods

Description:

Specifically focusing on research on business and economics subjects, the workshops aim to foster effective understanding of the various elements of a thesis or research article and cultivate writing skills for communicating the elements at high standards. The workshops will assist our MRes and PhD students in crafting strong writing skills to thrive on the PhD journey and an academic career awaiting.

The workshop addresses the following topics:

  • Explain and justify research design
  • Demonstrate methods’ rigorousness with validity and reliability assessment
  • Describe research procedures including important details

Each workshop is comprised of writing techniques, illustrative texts from quality journal articles in the field, and discussions.

Newly commenced students are recommended to enrol in all the workshops to boost a comprehensive development of know-how in scholarly writing. Or alternatively, you can choose to enrol in workshops on your favourite topic(s).

Students who attended previous workshops are also welcomed to attend the workshops this semester, as the materials have been revised at varying levels for better learning outcomes.

Anyway, you are not alone on the research planet! Join in us and see you at the workshops.
